This is Parmant Innova
Parmant Innova is a small-scale vmbo school in Eindhoven where learning by doing is central. Innova provides education in the basisberoepsgerichte leerweg en de kaderberoepsgerichte leerweg. From the lower secondary years onwards, students choose a direction that matches their interests and strengths: working with people or working with technology. This early orientation helps students discover where their talents lie.
Students have around ten hours per week of practical lessons, combining hands-on learning with relevant theory. As students progress, they further specialise in their chosen pathway, preparing them for vocational education and future careers.
Parmant Innova encourages an entrepreneurial mindset, supporting students to take initiative, work independently, and develop practical problem-solving skills. As a recognised Top Sports Talent School, Parmant Innova also offers flexible education pathways for students who combine school with high-level sports. In a supportive and personal learning environment, students are well prepared for further education and their future.
The Dutch school system explained
In the Netherlands, all children attend primary school from the age of 4 to 12. After primary school, students move on to secondary education, which is divided into three main educational streams. This system allows students to learn at a level that best matches their abilities and learning style.
The three main school track options are:
1. Pre-vocational secondary education (vmbo),
2. Senior general secondary education (havo),
3. Pre-university education (vwo).
At Parmant Innova we offer vmbo.
Vmbo – Preparatory vocational education
Vmbo is a four-year secondary education stream with a strong practical focus. Students combine vocational subjects with general subjects such as Dutch and English. There are different vmbo levels, ranging from highly practical (basisberoepsgerichte leerweg) to more academically oriented (theoretische leerweg) or a combination of both (kaderberoepsgerichte leerweg). Vmbo prepares students for further vocational education (mbo) and is usually completed around the age of 16. Students who complete vmbo-t can progress to havo.
